Jack J. Infranca, 91, founder of Infranca Realtors of New Hyde Park, died on Nov. 6, 2005, at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola. Infranca was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1911 and after marrying, moved to the new suburban community of Cambria Heights, Queens, in 1942. After entering the field of real estate brokerage, he moved his family to the Lakeville Estates area of New Hyde Park in 1959. He started his career in 1928 as an upholsterer with the Built-Rite Baby Carriage and High Chair Company of Brooklyn where he rose to the position of upholstery foreman, and met his future wife, Lena Accardi.. The couple eloped and married in 1934, during the Great Depression. Further daring, they took a risk with borrowed family money and opened their own Baby High Chair and Juvenile Furniture Business, known as Well-Made Baby Products Co, in 1935 on Varrit St. in Brooklyn. In the early 1940s the business was moved to larger quarters on the corner of Bedford and Atlantic Avenues and finally to Sacket Street in Brooklyn. With the move to Bedford Ave., Lena left the business to devote full time to raising their two sons. Well-Made Baby Products grew, took in two partners and successfully filled the needs of the baby-boom generation after World War II. Holding a patent on a convertible chrome baby high chair, which converted into a baby tender table and chair set, the business was sold to Infranca's former employer, Built-Rite in 1952. He then entered into a career as a real estate broker in association with John P. Bianca Real Estate of Queens Village. In 1953 he joined Vigilant Real Estate in Wantagh and in 1955 left for Bocar Real Estate on Hillside Avenue in Floral Park, Queens. Ever the entrepreneur, in 1960, Infranca along with Bill Williams of New Hyde Park, who was also associated with Bocar Real Estate, then opened Infranca & Williams Real Estate at 926 Hillside Avenue. After Bill Williams left real estate in 1967, Infranca established his own firm. The new firm, known as Infranca Realtors, started at 2022 Hillside Avenue. In 1971 the office was moved to 416 Hillside Avenue and Infranca turned the running of the business over to his son, John. He then retired in 1978 John Infranca later moved Infranca Realtors to 401 Jericho Turnpike in 1991 and in 1999 moved it to its current location at 1603 Hillside Avenue in association with Fanny Soisson Real Estate. Jack and Lena Infranca were married for 62 years before Lena died in 1995. They were a devoted and inseparable couple who, when not working, enjoyed their family, church, business and community activities along with Thoroughbred horse racing, casino gaming, dining out and traveling. They celebrated their 40th and 50th Wedding Anniversaries at surprise parties given by their children and graciously catered by Willy, Rita and Karl Ruek's New Hyde Park Inn. Infranca was a member of the Long Island Board of Realtors, the Greater New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce and the Greater New Hyde Park Republican Club. Both Jack and Lena were active members of New Hyde Park's Cellini Lodge #2206, Order Son's of Italy in America (Jack was a charter member in 1968).
