Reinhard Sprengeler passed away at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria on Wed. evening, November 6th, having reached the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 4 days.

He was born in Benton Township, near Cologne, Minnesota on august 2, 1894, to Fred and Maria Schlueter Sprengeler.

He was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church near Cologne. He married Rachel Schmidt on May 20, 1918. There were privileged to celebrate their Golden Anniversary in May 1968 at Alexandria, and also their 55th Anniversary at the farm at Cologne in 1973.

He enjoyed good health all his life, except for the last year. They lived most of their married life on the farm near Cologne. Later lived at Wheaton and then at Alexandria for the past thirteen years.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Rachel; daughter, Mrs. Herb (Aurelia) Brockoff and husband of Cologne, Minnesota; two sons, Elroy and wife Betty near Wheaton; Elton and wife, Lillian of Fort Dodge, Iowa; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Amalia Rolf of Belle Plaine, Minnesota. Rev. Ferdinand and wife of Thorp, Wisconsin; two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Emma Schmidt of Young America and Mrs. Alma Schmidt of cologne, Minnesota and host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Emilie.

Funeral Services: Saturday, November 9th, 1974 at 2 p.m. Zion Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Minnesota. Rev. K.K. Hill officiating.

Interment: Sunday, November 10th at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Cologne, Minnesota, Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Cologne, Minnesota. Rev. Fred Sprengeler, age 83, of Waconia passed away Friday, October 21, at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine, He was born April 4, 1894, in Sibley County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sprengeler (nee Dorothy Reintz).

Funderal services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday from Trinity Lutheran Church of Waconia. The Rev. Robert Schaeffer officiated and interment was at the church cemetery. A chapel service was held at the Yetzer Funeral Home Sunday evening.

He is survived by his widow Elsie (nee Engelke); daugher Mrs. Norma Mackenthun of Crystal; son, Wald of Green Isle; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Casketbearers: Darrell, Mark, and Kurt Mackenthun, Wade and Todd Sprengeler, Herb Brockoff.

On Nov. 12, 1927, he married Alma R. Bussmann at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Township, by Rev. Herman AmEnd.

Theodore H. Sprengeler is preceded in death by parents, brothers, Reinhard and Rev. Ferdinand Sprengeler, sisters, Amalia Rolf and Emilie Schmidt.

He is survived by wife, Alma (nee Bussmann), sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Orlene Sprengeler of Thorp, Wisconsin Lydia Brueggemeier of Waconia, Arthur and Verona Bussmann of Cologne, Esther Bussmann of Hamburg. Sarah Bussmann of Lester Prairie, nieces and nephews.

Theodore was baptized Oct. 21, 1900, at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Township, by Rev. Robert Kaiser and confirmed March 28, 1915 at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Township by Rev. August Rehwaldt.

The organist for the funeral was Julianne Marcsisak. The congregation sang "Abide with Me" and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives." The Zion Church Choir sang, "Mude Bin ich Zu Ruh" and "Near to the Heart of God." Funeral was held at 1:30 Pam from Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Township. The Rev. Paul Klemp officiated and interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery Benton Township. Chapel Service was 8 p.m. Thursday.

Edwin J. Sprengeler, a former manager of the Fullerton Lumber co. in Brownton, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 1989, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Mason City, Iowa. He was 83.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City with the Rev. Randy Kasch officiating.

Mr. Sprengeler was born Feb. 4, 1906, near Green Isle, MN, to Louis and Emilie (Schlueter) Sprengeler. He attended Emmanuel Parochail School in Hamburg. He then attended the Concordia Seminary with intentions of becoming a Lutheran minister, which was interrupted by an accident.

He then attended and graduated from the Minneapolis Business College. He was employed by the Fullerton Lumber Co. in various towns in Minnesota before being transferred to Mason City in 1939.

He married Gertrude E. Luebert Aug. 19, 1934, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. He managed the Brownton Fullerton Lumber Co. from 1934 to 1939. In April 1944, he and John Mackin bought Mason city Builders Supply Co. They operated that business for a couple of years before he started the Farm and Town Lumber Yards in Mason City, Marshalltown, Dumont and Hamton, Iowa, and Rochester, Minn. He retired in 1972 and moved to Spicer, Minn. In 1981, the Sprengelers moved to Santa Maria, Calif. He then was brought back to Mason City to the Good Shepherd Home, which he helped to establish.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge, Mason City Chamber of Commerce and past board member, past director of Lutheran Mutual Life Insurance Co., Independent Retail Lumber Dealers Association, America Stat Bank, and past president of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home board of directors.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude, of Santa Maria, Calif,; a daughter, Virginia (Mrs. George) Croly, Santa Maria, Calif.; one brother, Arthur, of Plato Minn.; three grandchildren; and three-great grandchildren. - submitted by Beth Ann on 07/08/2014

Arthur Sprengeler, 89, longtime director of the Minnesota Livestock Breeders Association and former president of the Minnesota Sate Fair, died Sunday, July 28, 1991, at the Glencoe Area Health Care.

Mr. Sprengeler, of Plato, was in the hospital for surgery to amputate a leg that was infected from a toe injury.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, from Emanuel Lutheran Church of Hamburg. The Rev. Donald L Andrix and the Rev. Erwin Sprengeler will officiate.

Organist will be Kathy Oelfke with Dan Sprengeler as soloist. The Emanuel Men's Choir will sing "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "There is a Land Where Jesus Reigns." The congregational hymns will be "I'm But a Stranger Here" and "Jesus Lives, the victory's Won."

Pallbearers will be David Sprengeler, Kevin Harjes, Jon Turbett, Paul Sprengeler, Mark Schuette, and John Sprengeler. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel, Melvin Jr., Jeremy and Jim Sprengeler, Jeff and Jim Turbett and Merle Schuette.

Internment will be in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Born July 19, 1902, in Green Isle Township, Sibley County, to Louis and Emilie (Schlueter) Sprengeler, he was baptized July 27, 1902, and confirmed April 16, 1916, at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Hamburg.

He followed in his father's footsteps and bought a dairy farm in Helen Township, near Plato. He bred award-winning Brown Swiss cattle, which he exhibited at the State Fair for more than 50 ears. He also judged shows in Minnesota, North Dakota and Iowa.

From 1950 to 1980 he was the director of the Minnesota Livestock Breeders Association. He was president of the Minnesota Purebred Dairy Cattle Breeders Association, director of the National Brown Swiss Breed Association and the McLeod County Co-op Power Association. He was inducted into the Minnesota Livestock Hall of Fame in 1973.

Mr. Sprengeler was president of the Minnesota State Fair from 1983 to 1985 and was on the fair's board of managers from 1972 to 1985.

He was a board member of the Wright and Sibley county fairs and chairman of the Emanuel Lutheran Church of Hamburg.

Mr. Sprengeler was united in marriage to Dorothea M. Renken on June 30, 1925, at Emanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothea; sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Elaine Sprengeler of Plato, The Rev. Erwin and Glorian Sprengeler of Tillamook, Or, Marvin and Irene Sprengeler of Plato; daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia Harjes of Maple Grove, Mrystle and Lee Turbett of Saginaw, Mich., Mavis and Willmer Schuette of Waconia; 30 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Elsie Sprengeler of Hutchinson, Gertrude Sprengeler of California, and Gertrude Schmidt of Fairhaven; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

church, Benton Township, by Rev. August Rehwaldt.
On November 12, 1927, she married Theodore H. Sprengeler at Zion
Lutheran Church, Benton Township, by Rev. Herman AmEnd. Alma was
preceded in death by husband Theodore, parents, sister Malinda
Brueggemeier, brothers, Herert and Edwin Bussmann.
She is survived by sister Lydia Brueggemeier of Waconia, brother and
sisters-in-law, Arthur and Verona Bussmann of Cologne, Ester Bussmann
of Hamburg, Sarah Bussmann of Chanhassen, Orlena Sprengeler of Thorp,
Wisconsin, nieces and nephews.
Vigil prayers held at 8 p.m., Friday at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in
Waconia.
Funeral was held at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Benton Township,
Cologne, the Rev. Paul A. Klemp officiating. Organist for the
funeral service was Julianne Marcsisak. Zion Lutheran Choir sang,
"There is a Land Where Jesus Reins" and "Near to the Heart of God."
Congregational hymns sung were "My Maker, Now be Nigh," and "Yours
Forever, God of Love."

Earl O. Sprengeler, 70, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Monday, February 12, 1996 at the Hutchinson Community Hospital.

Services were held Thursday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with Rev. Gerhard H. Bode officiating. The organist was Maxene Moormann and the soloist, Bobbi Cogley, sang, "On Eagles' Wings." The congregational hymns were, "He Leadeth me," What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "Amazing Grace."

Honorary casket bearers were Jerome Rannow, Homer(Sonny) Barrick Jr., Paul Rolfsmeier, Ed Bonfig, Don Hantge, Leon Odegaard, and Gerrit Smith. Casket bearers were Jon Dose, Jared Dose, mark Hawes, Ricky Hawes, Kenneth McKenzie, and Orvis Wahl. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Sprengeler was born March 12, 1925, at Glencoe, MN, the son of Otto and Elsa (Schuette) Sprengeler. He was baptized March 22, 1925, by Rev. Kolbe at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, and was confirmed in his faith April 10, 1938, by Rev Schulze at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.

On January 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to Virginia Hawes at
Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. this marriage was blessed with
a son, Jon. They farmed in the Biscay area until 1960, when they
purchased a livestock business and moved to Hutchinson. He was in
the trucking business for 36-years and He had been a member of the
McLeod County Deputy Force for 17 years. Virginia passed away in
January of 1970.


On November 26, 1971, he was united in marriage to Louis (Kern)
Dose, by Rev. Klein at St. John's Lutheran Church in Plato, MN. He
enjoyed spending time his step-grandchildren. He also enjoyed
dancing, playing cards, and visiting with his friends over coffee at
the truck stop.

He became ill with diabetes and continued to remain as active as he
was able. Following a lengthy illness, he was most recently
hospitalized at the Hutchinson Community Hospital Tuesday, Feb .6. He passed away there Monday, Feb. 12, at the age of 70 years.


Mr. Sprengeler is survived by his wife, Lois; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Linda Sprengeler of Darwin; Step-children and the spouses, Robert and Lorraine Dose of Hamburg and Jane and Don Bayerl of Sinsted; Step-grandchildren, Jon, Jared, and Jaclyn Dose, and Rebecca and Tricia Bayert; mother-in-law Hennrietta Hawes of Hutchinson; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law and their spouses, Geneva and Bob Dilley of Hutchinson, Germaine and Jay Stolz of Minneapolis, Doris Hawes of Litchfield, Jackie Hawes of Howard Lake, Dale and Eva Hawes of Alexandria, Lrina and Adam Schaefer of West St. Paul, Arvilla Prehn of Glencoe, and Marily and Ernie Templin of Glencoe; as well as nieces and nephews. Mr Sprengeler died on Sunday, March 31, 1996, at the Arlington Municipal Hospital

Organist was Betsy Werner and the Emanuel men's Choir sand "What a Friend we Have in Jesus." The congregational hymns were "Just as I Am" abd "I Know that my Redeemer Lives."

Pallbearers were Colleen Rusch, Daryle Luthens, Jody Schlueter, Kraig Knacke, Richard Engelmann, and Alan Engelmann. Interment was in the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Hamburg;

Mr. Sprengeler was born to Friedrich and Elsie (Engelke) Sprengeler on July 20, 1927, in Green Isle Township, Sibley. He was baptized by the Rev. H. J. Bouman at the Emanuel Lutheran Chuech in Hamburg, on July 24, 1927. He was confirme on Spril 6 1944, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle by Rev. R. W. Rottmann.

He attended parochial school in Green Isle. After school, he worked on the family farm until entering the U.S. Army in 1954. In the army, Mr. Sprengeler reached the rank of specialist third class and served in Korea. He recevie his honorable discharge from the army on Jan 31, 1956.

On Aug. 17, 1957, he was united in marriage with Gretchen Schlueter at the Acoma Lutheran Church, rural Hutchinson, by the Rev. Sauter. The couple made their home and farmed outside of Green Isle, The couple was honored for having a Century Farm. When Mr. Sprengeler reached 62, they retired to their current home in Green Isle.

Mr Sprengeler was a member of the Hamburg Lion's Club, the Emanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as school board member, trustee, and Men's Club member. He enjoyed helping his children in 4-H, and traveling both locally and far away. His trips included Hawaii, California, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

Mrs Sprengeler died on Thursday, Dec 5, 1996, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

Elsie Engelke was born on Feb. 27, 1899, in Hamburg to Fredrick and Minnie (Lustman) Engelke. She was baptized on March 12, 1899, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg by the Rev. Friedrich Pfotenhauer and confirmed fon March 16, 1913, at the same church by Rev. Heinrich Bouman.

She was united in marriage to Fred Sprengeler on June 21, 1921, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg by the Rev. Bouman.

Mrs. Sprengeler loved her church, family, crocheting, and mkaing mission quilts. She was an honorary member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.

Gertrude Sprengeler, 98, of Santa Maria, Calif., passed away in a Santa Maria hospital April 30, 1998, from complications of surgery after a fall 10 days earlier.

Gertrude Elise Sprengeler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Luebbert, was born July 12, 1908 in Brownton. she attended Brownton schools and graduated in 1925. She attended teachers college in Glencoe and taught county school in the area for several years. In 1934, she was married to Edwin J. Sprengeler of Green Isle and became a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church while residing in Brownton.

Most of her adult life was spent in Mason City, Iowa, since Mr. Sprengeler managed and owned lumber companies in that area. There she was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. she served as a Gray Lady during the World War II, and was involved in many charitable organizations. In addition to their home in Mason City, the Sprengelers also resided in Spicer, MN, and Scottsdale, AZ. In 1981, they moved to California to be near their daughter and grandchildren. There Mrs. Sprengeler attended and was active in the Lutheran Church of Our Savior. She spent the last five years living at a retirement home, Maria del Sol in Santa Maria, and more recently with her daughter in Pismo Beach, Calif.

Surviving are her daughter, Virginia S. Croly, three grandchildren, Eric John Croly, Gregory Mark Croly, and Myrna Ann (Croly) Tuck, and four great-granddaughters Sondra Lynn Croly, Amelia Marie Croly, Bailey Marie Tuck and Shelby Rae Tuck, all of Santa Maria, Calif.

Mrs. Sprengeler was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Arthur Luebbert of New Ulm and Walter Luebbert; four sisters, Marie La Valley Schlie of Dennison, Iowa; Erna Crowford, Frieda Janke of Glencoe and Irmagard Luebbert of Brownton; her husband Edwin; and one daughter Myrna Marie Sprengeler.

Memorial services were held May 7 at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Santa Maria. Services for Mrs. Arthur (Dorothea "Dora" Martha) Sprengeler, 100, of Glencoe and formerly of Plato, Minnesota died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at Glencoe Area Health Center -LTC.

Dora was born April 6, 1899, in Helen Township, Minn., the daughter of Henry and Sophia (Droege) Renken. She was baptized April 16, 1899, by the Rev. F. Pfotenhauer at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg; and confirmed there March 16, 1913, by the Rev. H. J. Bouman.

On June 30, 1925, Dora was united in marriage to Arthur C. Sprengeler at Emanuel Lutheran by Rev. Bouman. Arthur died July 28, 1991, after they had enjoyed 66 years of marriage.

A lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hamburg, Dora was a member and honorary member of the Ladies Aid for many years. A homemaker at heart, Dora loved to garden, quilt, crochet, and bake coffee cakes and buns. She found great enjoyment in her grandchildren with whom she loved to play cards.

Dora entered eternal rest Sept, 29, 1999, at the age of 100 years, five months, and 23 days. In addition to her husband Arthur, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, one granddaughter, five brothers: Alfred, Edward, Carl, John, and Henry; three sisters, Ana Blumke, Gertrude Schmidt, and Christine Mueller, and three sons-in-law.

She is survived by her children: Melvin Sprengeler (wife, Elaine) of Plato, Sylvia Foster (husband Robert) of Maple Grove; Myrtle Turbett of Saginaw, Mich; Rev. Erwin Sprengeler (wife Glorian) of Tillamook, Ore.; Mavis Schuette of Waconia; and Marvin Sprengeler (wife Irene) of Plato; 15 grandsons; 15 granddaughters; 43 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, 11:30 a.m., at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg with the Revs. Donald Andrix and Erwin Sprengeler officiating. The organist was Betsy Werner. Congregational hymns were "I'm but a Stranger Here," "For All the Saints," and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives."The Emanuel Men's Choir sang, "More Love to Thee," and the Emanuel Ladies Aid sang, "I am Trusting You, Lord Jesus." These was also a solo "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," sung by Daniel Sprengeler.

Casket bearers were Daniel Sprengeler, Jeremy Sprengeler, Melvin Sprengeler Jr., Jim Sprengeler, Merle Schuette, Jim Turbett and Jeff Turbett. Services for Irene Marjorie Sprengeler, 60, of Plato and formerly of Delano, were Thursday, April 24, 2003, at St. Pius X Church.
Fr. Eugene Lozinski officiated and interment was in the church cemetery in Glencoe.

Casket bearers were Kole Hance, Mike Shelley, Dan Kreft, Mel Sprengeler, Jr., Wanda Severson and Kristine Edwards.

Mrs. Sprengeler was born Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, 1942, in Delano. The daughter of James C. and Lenore (Pillatzki) Bauman, she was raised in the Delano area along with her nine siblings. She attended St. Peter's Catholic Grade School for eight years and then Delano High School through graduation in 1960. Following graduation, she was employed at Dr. Guilfoile's Office in Delano.

She was united in marriage to Arnold V. Visser June 28, 1962, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Delano. They had two daughters, Jody and Julie, prior to Mr. Visser losing his life in a traffic accident in November 1965.

She was then united in marriage to Marvin J. Sprengeler Dec. 1, 1967, and the couple made their home on his family farm near Plato. Three children were born to this union, John, Janelle and James.

Throughout her adult life, Mrs. Sprengeler volunteered for various church and school activities. She was a Eucharistic minister who brought communion to the homebound and she served on several church committees. She also worked as a reading assistant at St. Pius X School and helped in the school lunchroom.

Growing up, she was active in 4-H and later she served as an adult leader and eager volunteer for various 4-H activities. She enjoyed several hobbies and interests, including baking, sewing, gardening, home decorating and refinishing furniture. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as attending school events.

After raising her family, she worked part time at the McLeod County Courthouse and with the preschool screening program. She was later a resident at Shakopee Friendship Manor Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Arnold A. Visser; sisters, Leona Graupmann and Teresa Bauman; and grandson, Luke Becker.

John H. Sprengeler, a retired math teacher who was instrumental in starting the engineering program at the former Belleville Area College, died of complications from a stroke Friday (July 22, 2005) at the Dammert Geriatric Center in Belleville. He was 78 and lived in Fairview Heights.

Mr. Sprengeler was born in Minneapolis, went to high school in Albuquerque, N.M., and enlisted in the Navy. He served in the Aleutian Islands in World War II and was discharged in 1946.

Mr. Sprengeler received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico and a master's in education and mathematics from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Mr. Sprengeler worked as an electrical engineer in Texas, New Jersey and Iowa before accepting a job to start up an electrical engineering program at the former Belleville Area College, now Southwestern Illinois College. After the program was completed, he transferred to the college's math department, where he taught until retiring in 2000.
Among survivors are his wife, Margaret Spaberg Sprengeler; two daughters, Carol Makepeace of Belleville and Marilyn Strube of Richfield, Wash.; a son, Richard Sprengeler of Fairview Heights; and four grandchildren.

A visitation was Wednesday at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows Apartment Community Chapel in Belleville. The body was cremated.

Funeral services for Gretchen Emma Sprengeler, 81 of Green Isle were held Saturday, Aug. 9, from Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. Officiating was the Rev. Donald Andrix.

Mrs. Sprengeler died on Aug. 6, 2008 at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center.

The organist was Kathy Oelfke. The Emanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid sang "Just as I Am," and "Beautiful Savior" was song by Julie Miller and Lori Hammes. The congregational hymns were "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives."

Serving as pallbearers were Colleen Rusch, Cheryl Rusch, Randy Luthens, Robert Morgan, Scott Schlueter and Bobby Schlueter. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Gretchen Emma Schlueter was born March 5, 1927, in Hutchinson to Henry and Ella (Radunz) Schlueter. She was baptized on March 27, 1927, at Acoma Lutheran Church and confirmed into the faith on May 14, 1939, also at Acoma Lutheran. She grew up in Hutchinson and graduated from the Hutchinson High School.

After graduation, she worked for 3M Mining Company.

On Aug. 17, 1957, she was united in marriage with Waldo Sprengeler at Acoma Lutheran Church in rural Hutchinson by the Rev. Sauter. The couple made their home on his family farm outside Green Isle. The couple was blessed with three children.

Mrs. Sprengeler was very active in Emanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Women's Mission League, Ladies Aid, quilter's group as well as any other place where she could help. Another big part of her life was 4-H; not only did she help her children in their 4-H activities, she also wanted other children to participate and encouraged them in any way she could by being a 4-H leader and project leader.

Mrs. Sprengeler enjoyed quilting, sewing, canning, cooking and baking, playing cards, traveling with her husband, and she loved her grandchildren, they were the "apple of her eye.'

Survivors include her children, Denise Sprengeler of Lansing, Kan., Wade (Holly) Sprengeler of Independence, Todd (Lisa) Sprengeler of Green Isle; grandchildren, James Sprengeler, Jennifer Sprengeler, Nolan Sprengeler; sisters, Clara Luthens of Hutchinson, Frieda Rusch of Darwin; sisters-in-law, Geri Schlueter of Litchfield, Corrine Schlueter of Hutchinson, Ardell Bressler of Arlington, Leone Rusch of Hutchinson; as well as niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brothers, Louis Schlueter, Elmer Schlueter; sister, Alma Rusch and her husband, Orville; brothers-in-law, Vernon Sprengeler, Arnold Luthens, Ludwig Rusch.

Elton F. Sprengeler, 80, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008.
He was born Feb. 24, 1928, in Cologne, Minn. where he attended Zion Lutheran School. He was a graduate of Concordia High School in St Paul and from Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Ill., where he received his bachelor of science degree.
On July 6, 1958, he married Lillian Rudolph in Elk River. In 1977 he received a master's degree in education from Concordia College in Seward, Neb. For 43 years he was a Lutheran school teacher. He taught at St. John Lutheran schools in Elk River and Alta, Iowa and at St. Paul Lutheran School in Fort Dodge before retiring in 1990. He enjoyed directing choir and playing organ at St Paul's, Prince of Peace, and Good Shepherd Lutheran churches in Fort Dodge.
Mr. Sprengeler is a past dean of the Buena Vista chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and past chairman of the Iowa District West Teacher's Conference.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 14 at St. John Lutheran Church, Elk River, with the Rev. Donald Sprengler officiating. Burial was at St John Cemetery.
